- Time:

With the library renovation almost complete, let's turn the page and welcome in a new chapter celebrating 40 years with the Olin Library!
Capture memories with a photobooth, indulge in birthday treats, and attend the FoxFabLab soft opening to discover all the creative possibilities at your fingertips: create a tote bag using the Cricut Heat Press or a custom button. Plus, the Grind will feature a limited-edition drink refresher and cookie available for purchase!
The library will host two special workshops throughout the night:
Planeswalkers' Haven: Discover Magic(: The Gathering) at the Library with Kat, Sam, Caitlyn
5 – 6 p.m. in Olin 230 | RSVP
Join Kathryn Van Gundy, Sam MacKnight, and Caitlyn Deeter to discover Magic: The Gathering, the game that combines strategy with epic storytelling. Immerse yourself in the community, read the lore, and learn the basics with Olin's copy of the beginner box from Magic: The Gathering Foundations, and find out why Magic has captivated millions for over 30 years.
The Tradition of Chinese Ink Painting: Themes of Bamboo
6– 7 p.m. in Olin 230 | RSVP (max 30 participants)
Guided by Chinese language professor Gu Zheng, you are invited to a one-night-only, relaxing and interactive workshop exploring the tradition of Chinese ink painting!
Choose a bamboo plant to paint on a rice paper canvas, and enjoy a presentation on the history, techniques, and aesthetics of traditional Chinese ink painting with a focus on the culturally significant bamboo.
At the end of the workshop, you will walk away with not only your own plant and ink painting, but also a deeper understanding of this important tradition. This event is hosted by Olin in collaboration with the Rollins Chinese Studies Community.
Come out and be a part of this heartwarming chapter in our Olin story as we celebrate 40 years of providing the Rollins community with access to academic resources, research services, and a place where you belong.
